MASTER SERIES - inspired by Rembrandt's technique.

A new signature, developed as a self-taught artist, inspired by Rembrandt's technique, Rick has been working on more classic works over the past 3 years. The works consist of 6 to 8 layers of paint and are used with glazing techniques, (Frottis) dry brush techniques, Impasto technique and Alla prima technique (Wet in Wet) on parts in a specific order.

To achieve the result Rick has in mind, he imports mediums, siccatives and pigments that are not available in the Netherlands. mainly from France and Germany. Due to the complex ingredients, home-made paint and the long drying time and time-consuming details, creating a master series sometimes takes longer than 2 years.

The contrast in the painting in each piece is in line with Rick's philosophy behind the new signature. The depth created between detailed pieces and rawer parts makes the works speak. The viewer, from a distance, experiences a detailed Work of Art, but when approached the rough painting comes to light. Whereby thick blobs of impasto paint become visible. This loose way of painting allows a work to be interpreted again and again, experienced differently and new parts come to light for the viewer. This is in contrast to realistic or photography art.

Paintings by Rick Triest are signed and provided with a handmade wax seal. Rick's works are also finished with a layer of varnish. The paintings are sold as is, including decorative frame.

    Visit the new studio

Located in Beinsdorp (Bollenstreek), Rick Triest has his Atelier & Gallery at home, an attractive space that breathes creativity. The painting studio reminds you of an old apothecary, full of various glass bottles, paint pots, tubes and other other artist supplies that Rick needs to create his work. The smell of wet oil paint, varnishes and fixatives is reminiscent of a painter's studio from the past. When you walk through his studio you see rough work and Rick's process, which provides a special and memorable experience. In his new adjacent Gallery you will find his latest work on display.

    Frame making

In addition to Rick's Atelier & Gallery, he has a separately furnished space where he makes his own frames and frames his work. The frames are carefully made by hand with professional equipment. All available frames can be viewed in the studio. The delivery time of a frame is approximately 14 days.
