Product description
Amsterdam series
Hotel chic is the term Rick Triest prefers to use to describe his work. Active as an artist for more than 15 years now, he creates work with a further developed painting style that distinguishes itself and is unique in the art world. As an autodidact, Rick is always developing new techniques and art expressions on canvas or other mediums.
Rick builds his Amsterdam paintings from thick layers of paint and works with a clear handwriting that forms his signature. The thick golden line drawing with which his work is completed quickly reminds the viewer of Amsterdam in the golden age.
Artist Note: My works in the Amsterdam series are made in several layers of acrylic paint, inspired by Rembrandt's glazing technique. Also visible is the frotis technique of the dry brush in combination with oil pastels bought in Paris from Sennelier (known from Picasso). The free drawing style, which I set up with charcoal, is also very characteristic. Every layer of the work is exposed by these mixed techniques.
Paintings by Rick Triest have a handmade wax seal and come with a certificate of authenticity. Rick's works are also finished with a layer of varnish.

Visit the new studio
Based in Beinsdorp (Bollenstreek) Rick Triest has his Atelier & Gallery at home, an atmospheric space that exudes creativity. The painting studio reminds you of an old apothecary, full of various glass bottles, paint pots, tubes and other oddities that Rick needs to create his work. The smell of wet oil paint, varnishes and fixatives is reminiscent of an old painting studio. When you walk through his studio you see rough work and Rick's process, which makes for a special and memorable experience. In his new separately built Gallery you will find his latest work on display.
Frame making
In addition to Rick's Atelier & Gallery, he has a separate room where he makes his own frames and frames his work. The frames are carefully made by hand with professional equipment.
Below is a small impression of frames that are often used by Rick and are suitable for this artwork. All available frames can be viewed in the studio. You can put the desired frame together with the painting in your shopping cart, the delivery time will then be approximately 2 weeks instead of the above delivery time. The painting will be framed and delivered including a hanging system.
