Rick Triest 10 years of art
When Rick Triest left the hotel school he started painting. It was never the intention to make so many Rick Triest paintings. The beginning was the release of creativity and expression of shapes and emotion incorporated into composition and color. The commercial spirit and the urge for individuality and independence were the main motives for large series of large colorful paintings. Rick Triest was born in 1989 in Purmerend and raised in Amsterdam. After having sold his first series of abstract works, a subsequent series and a first collaboration with So Art Gallery, in the Spiegelstraat in the Amsterdamse Museum Kwartier, soon followed.
His first studio was in an industrial warehouse in Purmerend, where he had all the space to continue his experimental phase. Huge canvases are the result of varying shapes and techniques. Commands have resulted from enormous works of Mixed media, called Aesthetic. Canvases full of dripping ink and oil paint. Techniques such as; portrait drawing and painting, oil painting, acrylic, gold gilding and sculpture. Abstract forms of experimental materials for installations as inspiration for works on canvas. Rick Triest has developed into a self-taught artist.
In the studio in Amsterdam, assignments were made for various hotels. He was able to continue his experimental search for a style of comfort on the art market by taking on work. These expressionist works, spread throughout Europe, show this continued quest. From his abstract style, more and more forms of figurative compositions come to life.
The highlights of his commissioned artworks:
In Hotel Reylof in Ghent, Sandton Hotels, he has provided many hotel rooms with original canvases. Experimental, colorful canvases. They match the interior designed by Christian Lacroix, Designer Guild, Nina Cambel & Vaughan.
The largest canvas in the oeuvre has been made for this hotel. The canvas is 600 cm x 200 cm and is the eye catcher of the hotel. With his works in Reylof he has been named in the magazine Paris Match and his work has been discussed by curators of the Ikob Museum. Works have also been loaned for the Lion Art Fair in Ghent.
After and During his period of experimental art, Rick started collaborating with Galleries. Besides So art Gallery he started working together Amstel gallery (Kunst aan de Amstel).
Kunst aan de Amstel has represented Rick Triest at the Millionairs fair and the Affordable Art Fair. Both Prestigious Fairs. His works have been picked up by, among others, IQ Kunst Zwolle, Business Art Service, ART Moves, Art Center de Raay.
During the financial crisis, Rick took back all his works on consignment and stopped painting. Through collaborations with hotels, interior brands and architects, he has immersed himself in the design of furniture and interior styles that connect with his vision for art and space. In collaboration with various parties, he has designed an outdoor furniture collection and produced it in collaboration with manufacturers and agents. We called this Collection Etamin and can be seen in Grand Hotel ter Duin, Bugh-haamstede, among others.
After this period of entrepreneurship, Rick de Sales took on his older works. By stimulating sales to private individuals through E-commerce, he has been driven to continue in his quest for a fixed style in his art. The common thread of production and creative entrepreneurship is a clear line in entrepreneurship as an artist. His development led to the paintings that are created and exhibited today.
Rick Triest has joined forces from his quest as an entrepreneur and artist. He carries his predilection for color, warmth and interior close to sight. The ambiance and grandeur of high-quality hotels is inspiration for a new path. Namely a collection of interior items. Self-designed and derived from his creative quest for form, space and composition.
